One of philosopher Iris Murdoch’s biggest concerns in her work was that when we open our eyes as humans, even with the ability to reason, “we do not necessarily see what confronts us.”
By hearing the stories and situations of others, the self can be forgotten and the importance of peace can lie with the hope in understanding common threads of humanity from continent to continent or place to place. The power that a voice possesses is significant, but the power of that voice guided to the right ears, is what sparks change. Among the grand solutions we look for in terms of peace, we must start small and build awareness as an initial step. This blog is a new and additional step for me in my understanding of this gradual journey that is life. It can only start with exposure, and exposure is what it continues to be about.
So here's to people, places and things that allow us to pause, think and live as opposed to merely exist.
Won't you be here now with me?
